Pedagogical & Research Approach

This workshop uses participatory Questions and collective art-making as research tools, allowing participants to articulate embodied knowledge around care, belonging, and visibility. As a facilitator, I use these gatherings to test and refine questions emerging from my research on Black hair and spatial belonging.

Participants leave with

  • Completed artwork
  • A reflection booklet including prompts and self/community care practices
  • A shared language around belonging and care

Creating Belonging is part of my broader inquiry into how Black people and communities imagine, practice, and sustain belonging through art, dialogue, and care.
