Writing + Research

Ongoing writing and inquiry at the intersection of Black hair, ontology, power, and collective imagination.

Core Questions

  • How does Black hair operate as an archive of survival and world-making within conditions that deny Black belonging?
  • What forms of knowledge emerge through embodied, communal practices of care (such as gathering, making, and shared reflection) and how can these practices function as legitimate research methods?
  • What does abstraction make possible as a strategy of refusal and speculation when Black hair is translated across media, and what risks does it carry?
